LSA Desktop Backup with CrashPlan

LSA provides accounts on the ITS Desktop Backup service (CrashPlan) free of charge to LSA faculty, staff, graduate student instructors (GSI), and graduate student research assistants (GSRA) using university-owned equipment. CrashPlan is used to automatically back-up, and make available for restore, critical data stored on personal computers that isn't stored elsewhere.

Overview

CrashPlan is a desktop backup solution used to automatically back-up critical data stored on personal computers that isn't stored elsewhere. The data can be restored in the event of accidental deletion, if the computer is lost or stolen, or if it's infected by a virus. The CrashPlan desktop backup solution is available, free of charge, to any LSA faculty, staff, or graduate student instructors (GSI) or graduate student research assistants (GSRA) using university-owned equipment and running Linux, Mac OS X, or Windows operating systems. Any LSA faculty, staff, or graduate student instructors (GSI) or graduate student research assistants (GSRA) using university-owned equipment and running Linux, Mac OS X, or Windows operating systems.

Where can the service be used?: 

The service is available both on and off campus but only on university-owned machines.

Desktop backups with CrashPlan is provided free of charge to any LSA faculty, staff, or graduate student instructors (GSI) or graduate student research assistants (GSRA) using university-owned equipment and running Linux, Mac OS X, or Windows operating systems.
