Overview

Current M Cloud AWS Offerings

Amazon Web Services (AWS) Enterprise Agreement

This agreement replaces the Click-Through agreement and provides more protections to the university and students, faculty and staff who use Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Amazon Web Services (AWS) Consolidated Billing

Consolidated Billing allows the use of university ShortCodes to consume AWS Services. Users can bill all of usage to one ShortCode or assign resources in an account to multiple ShortCodes.

There are no additional overhead charges for this service. The account holder will be responsible for any service charges generated by their account. Please refer to AWS Service Pricing Overview for a list of services and associated pricing. You can use the AWS Simple Monthly Calculator to estimate your monthly costs.

Note: Due to current limitations within AWS consolidated billing, M Cloud subscribers who need a Reserved Instance, Grants or Educational Credits should NOT use the Consolidated Billing Feature. Please select Enterprise Agreement only. AWS is working on a fix for this issue. We will notify service subscribers when this issue has been resolved.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) Educate

University of Michigan is signed as an AWS Educate Institution. For more information on enrolling in the program please refer to the AWS Educate step-by-step guide.

Note: If you plan to use the AWS Educate program, you should still sign up your account for the Enterprise Agreement. This program is considered an Educational Credit to your account and you should not sign up for AWS Consolidated Billing at this time until the issues with Educational Credits are resolved.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) Egress Waiver

University of Michigan and AWS have reached an agreement waiving egress data transfer charges for eligible AWS accounts. Ineligible accounts are accounts whose primary purpose includes any of the following:

  • Web Site Hosting Service
  • Media Streaming
  • Massive Open Online Class (MOOC)

Note: The Data Egress Waiver Program waives data egress fees, up to a maximum discount of 15% off total monthly spending on AWS services.

Please review the Cloud Computing section of the Safe Computing website before consuming public cloud resources.
