Data Management

LSA IT Advocacy and Research Support staff are happy to help with:

  • Understanding, selecting and managing storage based on size, type of data, type of access and location of analysis to be performed.
  • Exploring backup options suitable for your data.
  • Assisting in security of research data.
  • Assisting in locating long term archiving locations for research data.

Device Integration

LSA IT Advocacy and Research Support staff are happy to provide assistance integrating research equipment with local or campus-wide IT infrastructure, both in the lab and in the field. 

When there is a requirement for a computer to run a specialized equipment, such as a microscope or a chromatograph, there is a need to interface it with the computer, via custom setups, to extract and process data. LSAIT Research Support staff assist in:

  • Consulting on the design and setup for your devices.
  • Working with vendors as needed in setup and deployment.
  • Production of needed devices to facilitate your work.
  • Security, data management, backup and maintenance planning for your research setup.

Procurement

LSA IT Advocacy and Research Support staff are happy to provide individual consulting to researchers to assist them in the design and acquisition of IT hardware, software, and service solutions that address research needs.

Technology Consulting for Proposals and Grants

LSA IT Advocacy and Research Support can help you:

  • Determine your needed technology items.
  • Obtain quotes and costs for needed technology hardware, software and services.
  • Write text about the needed technology for funding submissions.
  • Assist in purchase and implementation of technologies in awarded grants.
