Desktop Support Contract Services

Campus units requiring additional IT desktop support personnel to meet surge, project, or event staffing needs are able to contract with ITS to receive help from the Neighborhood IT desktop support group within ITS.

The types of traditional desktop support duties may vary by unit need. Desktop support staff members will be matched to requirements of each engagement and will work within the local environment by utilizing unit-provided tools and processes. Units are responsible for providing training/orientation. ITS technologies, including desktop technologies and service management tools, are not included with this service.

Features: 
  • Hardware/software break fix – General troubleshooting for computer hardware and operating systems. Repair work is limited to user-serviceable parts or facilitating warranty repair from authorized provider.
  • Operating system deployment/configuration for Windows and Mac.
  • Software installation – Install and configure software as directed.
  • Limited audiovisual support – Connecting computers to A/V systems, excluding repairing or maintaining A/V systems.
  • Equipment spec, ordering, and logistics provided by the MiWorkspace Depot.
  • Property disposition provided by the MiWorkspace Depot.
  • Storage permissions for MiStorage and other NTFS-based systems.
  • Active Directory maintenance for groups and authorization.
  • MCommunity group maintenance.
  • Other tasks as agreed to by both parties at beginning of engagement.
Who can use the service?: 

This service is intended for units on the Ann Arbor campus with their own IT groups or MiWorkspace customers that have projects/events not covered by the MiWorkspace service.

Available as an add-on service to units subscribing to MiWorkspace.
